The Macneticos team has provided their Institut de la Màcula counterparts with an accessibility training session for Apple products. During the session, the founders of Macneticos, Daniela and José, explained the tools offered by Apple operating systems to the visually impaired and the advantages and smart tricks of these devices and their operating systems.
Daniela and Jose, who are both blind, founded Macneticos with the desire to take accessibility one step further and help people like them to enjoy a full life in aspects ranging from personal autonomy to professional and educational productivity. During the session, the Macneticos team gave demonstrations and explained key features to the Institut team for passing on to the centre’s patients.
Daniela feels that her life “was changed when she discovered the Apple operating systems and all the advantages they offer”. She also considers what these types of devices provide to be very “striking”. During the session, José gave a demonstration of how a Mac computer may be used to create music in order to show that “all Apple’s applications are accessible and you can do anything with them”.
Macneticos is an online platform that provides tools for training in technology and accessibility. In parallel, it is also a podcast with over 50,000 downloads that is aimed at developers and users of Apple products. It has the main objective of breaking down the barriers that prevent the visually impaired from benefiting from all the digital media that we have at our disposal today.
