Dr. Marta Pazos, the ophthalmologist specialising in glaucoma at the Institut de la Màcula, is to present the poster "Retinal automated macular segmentation with SD-OCT in glaucomatous eyes” at the 33rd Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). The event is being held on September 5-9 in Barcelona.

Dr. Pazos will set out the results of a study conducted with new software that segments the various retinal layers in the macula and will help diagnose patients with glaucoma. Traditionally, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in glaucoma has concentrated on the optic nerve. However, the macula is increasingly taking a leading role in the diagnosis and monitoring of the disease.

Held twice a year, the Congress is one of the most important in the fields of cornea, refractive surgery and cataract. It is attended by leading specialist ophthalmogists and debates the most important developments.

The Congress programme may be viewed through this link. In addition, a stream of the event is available from September 5 using this link.
