Carol Camino, the low-vision specialist at the Institut de la Màcula and the President of the Spanish Society of Low Vision Specialists (SEEBV), is playing an active part in the Retina Project Multidisciplinary Conference organised by the Society on 17-18 October in Valencia.

Low vision is greatly associated with diseases of the retina. The role of ophthalmologists and optometrists is vital in detecting this type of pathology.

The Multidisciplinary Conference aims to provide the means necessary to strengthen the clinical value and prestige of the optometrist. This may enable a multidisciplinary team to be formed in order to add value to his/her surgery or eye centre.

SEEBV promotes the Project in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Abre Sus Ojos. Several companies are also taking part. These include OPTretina (telemedicine), Prats (ophthalmic lenses), Topcon (retinographers) and the pharmaceutical laboratories, Novartis and Lilly.

The content of the Conference may be viewed through this link.
