Barcelona’s Mayor visits the facilities of the Institut de la Màcula

Xavier Trias, the Mayor of Barcelona, took advantage of a visit today to the Barcelona Macula Foundation to tour the new facilities of the Institut de la Màcula in the company of Dr. Monés, the Director of both entities.

During his visit, the Mayor was able to learn first-hand about the Institute’s new headquarters, which opened recently in its own building within the Teknon Medical Centre. Dr Monés informed him about the new technologies which the Centre’s patients have at their disposal to profit from the latest treatments in the field of ophthalmology.

Among others, the Mayor was able to take a close look at the Constellation Vision System, and the PASCAL laser, two state-of-the-art machines which provide laser treatment of retinal pathologies.

“It is important for the private health sector in Barcelona to enjoy the recognition of the institutions as this provides the greatest motivation to continue with the public-private collaborations which have brought Catalonia so many successes in the health field in recent years”, Dr. Monés explained.
