Biophotonic Plus: Clustering event in Florence
20/05/2016 ·
The LITE Project: Development of Advanced Laser Imaging Techniques for the anterior and posterior Eye was presented by Dr. Jordi Monés and the other participating researchers from the Institut de la Màcula at the Clustering Event of the Biophotonic Plus group in Florence on Thursday. The meeting was structured into informative sessions in which each of the European initiative’s members (comprising research centres from the United Kingdom, Tuscany, Latvia, Israel, Germany, Flanders and Catalonia) reported on the status of the projects being promoted.
The Institut de la Màcula and the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) are the Catalan centres of excellence collaborating in Biophotonic Plus: Photonic appliances for Life Sciences and Health, a project co-financed by the European Commission and by the Catalan Agency for Business Competitiveness (ACCIÓ). The LITE project links Italy’s Construzione Strumenti Oftalmici (CSO), Istituto Nazionale di Ottica (INO) and Istituto di Fisica Applicata Nello Carrara (IFAC) in the development of a revolutionary hybrid system for diagnosing and monitoring ophthalmic pathologies that have entered their final phase.
This week’s meeting analysed the milestones achieved by the different working groups, which are incorporated into three major areas: Imaging techniques for live science research, Clinical therapy and Imaging techniques for Medical diagnosis, in which LITE is included.
BiophotonicsPlus aims to boost R&D in the field of photonics with project like LITE, cofounded by ACCIÓ and the Europea Union through the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.
