Enjoy St John’s Eve. Show foresight and protect your eyes
15/06/2016 ·
A special night is fast approaching. St John’s Eve is upon us and we want you all to enjoy it.
Although the traditional firecrackers and bonfires also involve other major risks, eyes are particularly sensitive. This is an area of the body that is highly exposed on nights like these and it is necessary to show some foresight and protect it.
We at the Institut de la Màcula recommend that before handling fireworks you make sure that they have been purchased at approved shops, you read the instructions carefully, you understand the rules of use and the age limits for handling them and you follow advice like this, as published by the Regional Government of Catalonia.
If anything happens to your eyes, it is important to wash the area with water and see your doctor right away to treat or minimise the effects that may have been caused by a spark or any of the firecracker’s components.
St John’s Eve is to be enjoyed. Show foresight and protect your eyes!
