Dr. Jordi Monés and Dr. Hussein Al Muhtaseb to attend the 4th Euretina Winter Meeting in Rome

The Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria Hotel will be the venue for the 4th Euretina Winter Meeting in the Italian capital next Saturday, 25 January. The event is organised by EURETINA, the European Society of Retina Specialists.

The following topics will be covered in the day’s various sessions: Metabolomics in Diabetes Mellitus, an update on the new methods employed for continuous evaluation of the different retinal vascular diseases and the methods of evaluation of the metabolism at the retinal level. Two very interesting sessions seem sure to foster broad debate: one on the new methods for administering eye medicines and the other on how to improve the knowledge available on gene therapy, which is based on stem cells.

During the Meeting, Dr. Jordi Monés, the director and ophthalmologist of the Institut de la Màcula is scheduled to attend the Bayer Advisory Board. He will also be present at one of the talks on Ophthotech’s research into Fovista Phase III trials. Dr. Hussein Al Muhtaseb will also participate as a co-researcher on 25 and 26 January in the preparatory meetings to launch the Fovista phase III study on anti-PDGF treatment for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
