Dr. Jordi Monés attends the presentation of the Inter-Ministerial Public Health Plan for Catalonia

The President of the Catalan regional government, Artur Mas, accompanied by the Regional Minister for Health, Boi Ruiz, have presided over the presentation of the Inter-Ministerial Public Health Plan for Catalonia (PINSAP) at a ceremony held at the Auditorium of the Palau de la Generalitat at 11 am.

The aim of the PINSAP is to improve the Catalan population’s state of health through inter-ministerial and inter-sectoral action that involves all the Regional Government’s ministries. The Plan, which leads the way in Europe, promotes the creation of healthy public policies and the development of health promotion and protection initiatives from the various areas of Government.

It is estimated that 8 of every 10 factors that influence people’s health are beyond the scope of the health authorities. At the same time, maintaining a good state of health in the population boosts society’s welfare and development. For these reasons, combined action from the whole Government, with a focus on health in all policies, is required to achieve an improvement in the population’s health.

Dr. Jordi Monés, the Director and ophthalmologist specialising in macula, retina and vitreous at the Institut de la Màcula, was invited to attend the presentation ceremony.
