Dr. Jordi Monés, Carol Camino and Felipe Yagüe participate at the 3rd Low Vision Conference of the SEEBV

Dr. Jordi Monés, Carol Camino and Felipe Yagüe will all participate at the 3rd Low Vision Conference organised by the Spanish Society of Low Vision Specialists (SEEBV) and to be held at the headquarters of the European University of Madrid on 20-22 November. Dr Monés is an ophthalmologist specialising in macula, retina and vitreous and Director of the Institut de la Màcula; Ms Camino is the President of the Spanish Society of Low Vision Specialists (SEEBV) and specialises in low vision at the Institut; and Mr Yague is a psychologist who specialises in adjustment to low vision and blindness at the Institut.
The Conference will provide the opportunity to present the latest developments in low vision, both in terms of treatment and visual rehabilitation.
Dr. Monés will give a lecture on Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and the new prospects created by current research. Among the topics he will cover are the best regimen for treating exudative AMD and the results obtained in therapies that display significant efficacy in halting the progression of the disease in certain patients.
As SEEBV President, Ms. Camino will inaugurate and close the 3rd Conference on Low Vision and will also be the moderator for a number of round tables on the specialty. Meanwhile, Mr. Yagüe will give a talk entitled “Psychological Help for the low-vision patient”.
The 3rd Conference of the SEEBV aims to be a meeting point for professionals to present the main developments in the field of low vision. Prestigious speakers will address attendees on their specialist areas and there will presentation of the latest breakthroughs both in visual rehabilitation and treatment. During the Conference, the winner of the 1st Ángel Barañano Prize will be announced. This honour is bestowed on the best work project in the area of low vision and visual rehabilitation.
