Doctors Jordi Monés and Josep Badal to attend the 117th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in New Orleans

The 117th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) will be held from 15-19 November at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Representing the Institut de la Màcula at the Meeting will be Dr. Jordi Monés, the Director of the Institut and an ophthalmologist who specialises in diseases of the macula, retina and vitreous, together with Dr. Josep Badal, an ophthalmologist who specialises in retinal diseases and in vitreoretinal surgery.

On 16 November, Dr. Monés will also hold a meeting with the Allegran pharmaceutical company in order to inform on and discuss the pharmacological developments and advances in eye treatment and especially in the medicines for treating retinal pathologies. He will also take advantage of his visit by participating in two international Advisory Boards, those of Novartis and Alcon.

The Annual Meeting of the AAO gathers specialists from throughout the world to enable them to explain the progress and developments in research into the various ocular pathologies. The aim is to improve the quality of life of each patient by ensuring the best possible care of his or her eyes.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is the largest US association of ophthalmologists and eye doctors. Over 90% of the country’s doctors are members and there are also 7,000 from abroad.
