With the aim of protecting both you and us, we have designed a NEW CARE CIRCUIT implementing exceptional safety measures that ensure optimal working conditions.

IMPORTANT SAFETY MEASURES:

- THE STATE OF HEALTH OF PERSONNEL AND MEASURES FOR MONITORING THEIR HEALTH

• The Institut’s full team are in good health.

• The head of health surveillance at the Institut monitors all personnel. Among other measures, this includes verifying that they are in good health when they come to work. The Institut has installed infrared thermometers for taking temperatures.

• Any employee who has been in direct contact with someone infected with Covid-19, or suspects that they have, will be subject to the safety measures ordered by the health authorities.

- A SPECIAL MEASURE FOR ATTENDING TO THE VULNERABLE

We operate a SPECIFIC TIMETABLE FOR ATTENDING TO VULNERABLE GROUPS so that such people receive care that is subject to extreme measures that safeguard them and protect against the virus.

If you suffer from a condition that may increase your susceptibility to infection, the patient care team will schedule your visit through the individual assessment of each case.

The groups at greatest risk are:

• The over-65s.

• Those with chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular ones, diabetes, cardiac or lung conditions, or more than one disease.

• Those with congenital or acquired immunity problems.

• Pregnant women and those who in the past have suffered from a serious pulmonary disease (pneumothorax, tuberculosis) are not currently considered to be risk groups.

OTHER SAFETY MEASURES

Personnel wear personal protective equipment (PPE goggles and face visors for the procedures that require them, masks and uniform).

Protective screens have been installed in the equipment where the professional and the patient are at a close distance in order to prevent direct contact during tests. The material, whenever possible, is single use only. If this is not feasible, it is disinfected and sterilised after each visit.

Protective screens have been installed on patient reception counters. These are cleaned thoroughly after each use.

Exhaustive protocols are applied for disinfection. The medical and healthcare team disinfects and sterilises the waiting room and offices after every visit.

• The building's ventilation system has been deep cleaned and disinfected.

Hydroalcoholic solution and cleaning areas with soap and water for hand washing are available to all.

• Water sources and all materials in waiting rooms (catalogues, brochures, magazines etc.) have been removed in order to avoid manual contact that might be a possible source of infection.

Signs and pictograms indicate the safety measures to be followed in the building.

MEASURES WITH REGARD TO THE SCHEDULING OF VISITS

• All clinical processes have been reviewed and improved in order to expedite and minimise the length of visits.

• The Patient Care team contacts everyone who has appointments arranged in order to confirm and, where appropriate, adapt these to the patient’s personal situation and state of health.

• If you are unable to attend the appointment you have scheduled, we ask you to notify us in advance.

The Patient Care line (935950155) is open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm. We can also be made by e-mail (info@institutmacula.com).

ENTRANCE AND TRANSIT AREAS

Direct access has been facilitated from the car park of the Medical Centre to the Institut de la Màcula. Here is a map showing directions.

• Moreover, Teknon Medical Centre has obtained the Applus Safe Hospital Certification. This important seal of approval confirms that the protocols applied to specifically prevent the spread of Covid-19 are safe.

The capacity of lifts is restricted to just one person. The use of the stairs is recommended when changing floors in the building.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PATIENTS

Before you come to the Institut, we recommend that you take your temperature. If you find you have a fever (37.3ºC or above) or any other symptom like a headache, malaise, a cough etc., you should postpone the visit and inform Patient Care. Your appointment will be rescheduled when you are better.

• On arrival, the Patient Care Team will take your temperature with an infrared thermometer.

The wearing of masks is obligatory. At the entrance, you will be given personal protection material (replacement mask, gloves and cap) and the new protection measures explained.

• You may be accompanied if you wish and the Institut ensures that safety measures are applied for both of you. Those in good health are advised to attend on their own.
