Dr. Jordi Monés admitted into the prestigious Jules Gonin Club

Dr. Jordi Monés, MD, PhD, the Medical Director of the Institut de la Màcula has become a member of the prestigious Jules Gonin Club. He was admitted at the 39^th Club Meeting, held in Zurich on 3-6 September.

At the meeting, Dr. Monés presented the study “The lineality of the growth over time from secondary geographic atrophy secondary to macular degeneration”. This evaluates whether the growth and speed of progression of atrophic lesions are linear in time. In the study, it was seen that growth is not exactly lineal and has no measurement scale. These results have an impact when assessing the efficacy of new treatments by means of clinical studies.

Following his admission, Dr. Jordi Monés forms part of the three most important retina societies: the Macula Society, the Retina Society and the Jules Gonin Club and it’s the first ophthalmologist in Spain present in the three societies.
