Dr. Jordi Monés lectures at the 4th Refresher Course on the Retina and Vitreous in Oviedo

The Fourth Refresher Course on the Retina and Vitreous will be held on 23-24 May at the Fernández-Vega Ophthalmological Institute in Oviedo.

Directed by Dr. Álvaro Fernández-Vega, the Course forms part of the continuous training programme in Vision Science of the University of Oviedo. Doctors specialising in different ocular pathologies will provide a series of lectures on the retina and vitreous.

Dr. Jordi Monés, the Director and ophthalmologist specialising in the macula, retina y vitreous at the Institut de la Màcula, will give two lectures at this event. The first will be on Friday and will concern non-exudative AMD. The topics Dr. Monés will cover include: the state of modulation of the complement for the treatment of dry AMD; strategies for inhibition and modulation of the visual cycle; the classification of autofluorescence in geographic atrophy and its implications; and genetics and its effects on AMD. On Saturday morning, Dr. Monés will take part as a panellist in the course on clinical cases.

Other doctors also to participate in the course are: Roberto Gallego Pinazo, who will give a lecture on “OCT and FAG for macular alterations”; Xavier Maseras Bruguera on “myopia magna”; and the professors José María Ruiz Moreno and Alfredo Adán Civera who will talk on “macular hole” and “intermediate and posterior uveitis and vasculitis”, respectively.
