Dr. Marc Biarnés, the Coordinator of Clinical Trials and Clinical Epidemiology at the Institut de la Màcula, will take part at the OPTOINNOVA 2015 Congress in Alicante on 22 May.

Dr. Biarnés will talk about the present and future of retinal diagnostic imaging in a masterclass for all the optometrists attending the Congress. His presentation will include assessment of the methods employed today and the future of the speciality.

He will also turn his attention to the developments taking place in the project, Development of Advanced Laser Imaging Techniques for the Anterior and Posterior Eye (LITE). This is an innovative international eye research project consisting of the creation of a hybrid system for the early identification of retinal and corneal pathologies and for greater understanding of the mechanisms by which the diseases affecting these structures develop.

These new techniques will enable high-resolution images of the retina’s photoreceptors to be obtained through the latest adaptive optical technique, together with the collagen fibres of the cornea.

This edition of the OPTOINNOVA Congress is organised into three blocks: anterior segment, posterior segment and R&D&i in the optical sector. It will also include the teaching of four thematic courses on visual rehabilitation, dry eye, orthokeratology and and ophthalmoscopic observation.
