The Institut de la Màcula, present at the annual meeting of the General Council of Colleges of Opticians-Optometrists

Organised in collaboration with the Official College of Opticians-Optometrists of Andalusia, the "OPTOM Meeting Málaga" will be held on 18-20 April. One of the most important events for eyecare professionals, the meeting this year will provide two monographic sessions which will address the relationship between eyesight and ageing, with particular emphasis on Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Glaucoma.

Marc Biarnés, a specialist at the Institut de la Màcula, has been invited to take part in the plenary session on glaucoma, which will open the first of two plenary sessions. In addition, Biarnés will also give a talk on clinical diagnosis procedures, which will focus on optical coherence tomography (OCT), a key test for detecting some of the principal eye diseases.

In his talk, Biarnés will address the indications of OCT using clinical examples and will describe its advantages in diagnosing and monitoring retinal pathologies compared to other techniques. He will also indicate its limitations through a critical review of scientific literature.

The Institut de la Màcula regularly participates in the principal scientific meetings related to eye disease, whether they be in terms of ophthalmology or optics.
