Today is World Sight Day

Today, 9 October, is World Vision Day, a special day set aside to raise society’s awareness of the importance of prevention and research in the fight against blindness.

The Institut de la Màcula is also committed to this research and is currently running eleven clinical tests in its efforts to find new treatments for eye diseases such as Age-related Macular Degeneration, Neovascular Glaucoma and Vitreomacular Traction Syndrome.

Many institutions are working at the international level to improve people’s eyesight. One of those institutions is the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, which has launched a campaign under the slogan “No More Avoidable Blindness”. Its aim? To reduce avoidable blindness around the world by 25%, by 2019. For more information on the initiative, feel free to view the video below.
