What we have achieved is historic

On 4 January last year, FC Barcelona played Osasuna in the first leg of the round of 16 of the King's Cup. There was something especially important about the match. It was the first smoke-free game in over half a century of history at the Camp Nou.

The idea came from Jordi Monés, ophthalmologist and the club's Director of Medical Services, who is tremendously positive about the Camp Nou's first year without smoking and is very proud of the initiative.

"What we have achieved thanks to the effort of the Board of Directors, the executives and the club members, who are those who have stopped smoking at the Camp Nou, is historic. We must remember that we have done this through our own initiative and at a 100,000-seater stadium. This is why we have received the recognition of the European Union and many organisations have shown interest. We should be proud that we have extended the lives of Barcelona members", Monés said.

Two important facts:

- 1% of Barcelona club members who are smokers do not respect the ban on smoking at the Camp Nou.
- 27% of Barcelona members who are smokers use the turnstiles installed by the club to go out for a cigarette.
