The Spanish Vitreo-Retinal Society (SERV) a scientific association devoted to promoting the study of retinal, choroid and vitreous diseases, will hold its 18th Annual Congress in Seville from March 7.

One of the most important meetings in Spain in the field of ophthalmology, the Congress will feature presentation of free communications and hold round table discussions on new developments involving the Society.

These activities include the round table on March 8 at 11.45 a.m. entitled “Management of intraocular therapy”. Dr. Jordi Monés, the Director of the Institut de la Màcula and an ophthalmologist who specialises in macular, retinal and vitreous diseases, will participate with the presentation of the latest developments in "Materiality criteria in the therapeutic management of atrophic AMD".

In addition, Dr. Hussein Almuhtaseb will present a poster titled “Comparison between blue, infrared and multicolour light in the identification of reticular drusen”. Reticular drusen are small sub-retinal deposits that increase the risk of suffering from advanced AMD. This poster will analyse the capacity of various imaging techniques (blue, infrared and multicolour light) to detect the presence of reticular drusen. This communication has been written by Dr. Hussein Almuhtaseb, Dr. Josep Badal, Marc Biarnés and Dr. Jordi Monés, of the Institut de la Màcula.
